Hi, I'm Emma

I have been immersed in Eastern culture since growing up in Hong Kong and with Anglo Indian heritage there is a sense of belonging to that part of the world and always will be. Extensive travel across India and most parts of Southeast Asia with parents living in China for over 15 years has gifted me with a broad perspective of how to live and how to make a home wherever life takes you. This proved invaluable when relocating to the UK to study at university, living away from family was the first milestone that paved the way to independence and self-discovery. It was during this time the love of yoga was born and truly blossomed.

Yoga has been my 'energetic compass' in life and has kept me on track through many highs and lows (we all have them!) where grounding my body and my mind to my mat was essential. My practice and passion became a second full time career when I left the corporate world after eighteen successful years in the property industry working for the largest global property agency and largest house-builder in the UK. This 'life pivot' came with a sense of knowing the time was right, trusting my intuition and yoga!

There was no plan, no job lined up, just hard earned savings which I knew provided me with some breathing space to think hard about what I wanted to do next. A milestone birthday, Covid, the passing of my father (my hero), all in the space of twelve months gave me more clarity and determination to create a work-life balance and perhaps more importantly serve those I love and others doing what I love and to share that joy. Many thought I was crazy at the time to leave what was 'secure' and 'safe' however I knew yoga was my calling and where my next path was leading me to.

I look forward to what is an exciting and evolving life ahead with the only constant in life which is change! can't wait to meet you if you are reading this and I am so glad you are here.

Love & Light

Emma

My Training

I am a certified by Yoga Alliance International and a qualified Senior Teacher accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals, insured with first aid training to teach in the UK and Europe.

My training journey as been a joy throughout different times and places round the UK which has allowed me the time not only to digest between each training but to meet different teachers from different backgrounds and linages who all bring their own personality and style which I feel honoured to have absorbed a little part of each to my practice and outlook to yoga, movement and philosophy. I believe this has encouraged me to understand that 'there are so many ways to be right' and there are so many different ways to reach and connect with students. Yoga is not only practiced on the mat is is carried off the mat to help us navigate our wild ride through life.

The attraction to hot yoga and practicing in warm environments and studios I am sure stems from living half my life in a hot climate. I have always had the benefit of being able to acclimatise and move, work and play in higher temperatures and my body has over the years become strong and able to manage the heat.

My Journey To Teaching

I completed my 200hr Teacher Training in Ashtanga, Meditation and Pranayama in 2017 with Jamie Blowers Movement Training who trained directly with Larry Schultz, student of the founder of Ashtanga yoga K Pattabhi Jois and primarily recognised as the creator of Rocket yoga.

My Yin Yoga training took place at Yard Yoga with a collective of teachers and experts in 2023. Yin Yoga is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which I was surrounded by growing up and always had an interest and curiosity in how we can heal our own bodes from the inside by deepening our relationship both physically and mindfully. Yin Yoga has become the Ying to my Yang, balancing a strong dynamic vinyasa practice with the beauty we can find in the softness and stillness of yoga. My love for creative moment as a craft, flourished in 2025 with Bonnie Weeks founder of Flow School, a sequencing training platform which I was honoured to part of the first UK training.

The most recent training has been with Marcus Veda one of the UK's leading Vinyasa teachers and creator of 4BEAT at Mission E1, the largest movement studio in Europe. 4BEAT Yoga is a dynamic music-driven vinyasa flow born out of the Rocket Yoga system, the practice synchronises your breath and movements to a slow, steady rhythmic pulse (usually 60 - 70 bpm). It is a rhythmic, moving meditation intended to help you tap into a flow state. This training has consolidated Ashtanga and the joy of synchronising the practice to music.
